FDIC PROMOTES A COMPREHENSIVE ETHICS PROGRAM FOR BANKS
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)’s Financial Institution Letter in 2005 titled “Guidance on Implementing an Effective Ethics Program” (see www.fdic.gov/news
/news/financial/2005/fil10505.pdf or www.fdic.gov/news/news/financial/2005/fil10505a.html) reminds “financial institutions of the importance of written standards to promote honest and ethical conduct, compliance with applicable rules and regulations, and accountability in adhering to a corporate code of conduct or ethics policy.”
Components of the ethics policy include an Ethics Code, Ethics Training, and an Ethics Hotline.
