There are currently ten securities exchanges registered with the SEC, as required by section 6 of the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934. Included are the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ (“the largest U.S. electronic stock market”), the American Stock Exchange, and the Chicago Stock Exchange. NASDAQ and NYSE require listed companies to comply with corporate governance standards, including adoption of an Ethical Code of Conduct.
